Again, I am thinking the result of the applications registration processes with Windows.AVG TuneUp Unlimited keeps your computer/mobile at peak performance. For some reason it never has on my installation. Note that the nag shown in Steve's screenshot does not appear. Enabling protection again did not bring back the notification. This removed the information notification about my third party security application from the GUI. Screenshot below for your reference.ĮDIT: On a whim I decided to Turn Off Protection by clicking the down arrow to the right of Pause Protection seen above. Why I had to perform the above procedure I am unsure however, I am thinking it is related to how these competing security products register themselves in Windows. Now opening TI 2021 and looking at the Protection screen what I see has changed from what I saw after the initial installation and I believe it to be an accurate description of my system status. After the scan completed I turned on my party all again. In researching this I decided to turn off my third party antivirus to enable Windows Defender. While looking into another issue raised elsewhere for an Event 17 Windows Security Center issue I found that my installation had the same issue. Warning: I am not recommending this as a method to stop the protection functionality. to see if the rest of True Image works alright. I plan to let it run a while and see what may happen. In doing so, the following tasks no longer show up under Task Manager: I stopped the Acronis Agent Core service. When watching this, the ATI user interface is not running. I've been looking with ATI Protection on and off and oddly not seeing a lot of difference in either memory or CPU (this is an idle system).Įven with protection off, I see the following tasks consistently popping up near the top of the list when sorting on CPU load. In terms of CPU usage, there is nothing excessive. A general observation is that True Image has about twice the number of services as Avast and is using close to twice as much memory. I've also been looking at the Task Manager to see both how they are performing. When off, I have not seen any nagging to turn it on. I can turn protection off and on and it seems to be OK. So far, I have not encountered any problems. I've been playing around with ATI and Avast running together. in the What's new in Acronis True Image 2021 page for Web Filtering, it says "Browse the web safely knowing sites that spread malware and suspicious files, host phishing attacks, or promote fake news are automatically blocked." Fake news? Really? Windows Security shows Avast Antivirus, but also shows No providers under Web protection.

ATI does recognize Avast, but has ATI taken a passive stance or is it taking an active stance while telling me (as an informative aside) that it may conflict with Avast? I am confused about what ATI is telling me, particularly about the Malicious files and Malicious websites indicators. The latest version of Avast that I am running contains a Web Shield and a Ransomware Shield which are both on.

The settings page shows each of these items turned on as the activity reflects. The Protection Activity page shows three activities performed during the installation (first to last):

To avoid compatibility issues and to enable complete protection of your system with True Image, uninstall this software and enable protection. Malicious files and Malicious websites both have a blue i (info) for the message "Currently the antimalware protection is performed by the following software: Avast Antivirus. Here is what I see in the Protection area:

This is a system using Avast Free Antivirus. I installed ATI 2021 over my existing ATI 2020.
